General Assembly: Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG) on the Revitalization of the Work of the General Assembly, 79th session.

The Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG) on the Revitalization of the Work of the General Assembly will have a thematic debate on the selection and appointment of the Secretary-General and other executive heads.

The General Assembly must regularly examine itself, including its role and working methods, to ensure it is fit-for-purpose and capable of responding effectively, thoughtfully, and meaningfully to the most urgent global challenges.

The General Assembly remains the chief deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations, as well as the world's premier multilateral forum. As the President of the General Assembly has observed, a stronger United Nations requires a stronger General Assembly.
